The Department of Energy is doing its part to get Home Energy Rebates into the hands of consumers. They’re providing states with maximum assistance to complete applications and launch programs. DOE has received the first applications for program funding from four states. Some of these states could begin issuing rebates as soon as Spring 2024. These are state-run programs. They will need to apply for funding and put infrastructure in place to administer these rebates. Most of the rebates will go to low- and middle-income households, which often aren’t able to take full advantage of tax incentives for energy upgrades. The Home Energy Rebates are an opportunity for Americans to save money now and later by improving their energy efficiency while helping fight climate change.
