How Cities Can Take Advantage of Direct Pay

Loading Events

The Inflation Reduction Act provides tax incentives for the production of and investment in clean energy through a tax credit monetization called elective pay, also known as “direct pay.” For the first time, these clean energy tax benefits are available to entities that have been historically excluded from claiming them—such as state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and other tax-exempt entities like schools, hospitals, places of worship, and many more.

This virtual briefing is designed to help municipal officials better understand how to use direct pay to claim federal clean energy incentives. The webinar will provide insight into navigating domestic content requirements, labor standards, project documentation, bonus credits, and more. During the training, you will:

  • Master the basics of direct pay, such as why this is such a huge opportunity, what entities and projects are eligible, and how direct pay works in practice.
  • Learn how entities eligible for direct pay can leverage Lawyers for Good Government’s Tax Navigator to get set up for success in the filing process.
  • Gain understanding of the mechanisms and tools to weave together multiple sources of funding and finance to maximize clean energy project viability by exploring Atlas Public Policy’s Project Finance Hub.

This training is designed for decision makers and officials (including sustainability officers, finance officers, and legal teams) at the city or municipal government level (counties, school districts, universities, and more). This training will be designed for you to be able to bring actionable information and resources to be able to bring clean energy projects online in your local government.

This webinar is presented by the Lighthouse Cohort Partners: L4GG, GFOA, WRI, USDN, SSDN, and Electrification Coalition.
