The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of State and Community Energy Programs Workforce Team is excited to offer a webinar to discuss four new workforce development programs worth $260 million funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Through these programs, SCEP will help states, nonprofits, and industry prepare workers and businesses to deliver the energy efficiency and electrification projects that will decarbonize buildings and homes:
- Energy Auditor Training Grant Program – Provides $40 million in grants for eligible states to train individuals to conduct energy audits or surveys of commercial and residential buildings.
- Career Skills Training Program – Provides $10 million in grants for partnerships comprised of nonprofits, industry, and labor organizations. The program will fund nonprofit partnerships that give students both classroom instruction and on-the-job training to obtain an industry-related certification to install energy efficient building technologies.
- Building Training and Assessment Centers – Provides $10 million in grants for institutions of higher education to establish building training and assessment centers that prepare building technicians and engineers to identify and deliver energy efficiency upgrades to businesses and institutional buildings.
- State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grant Program – Provides $200 million in grants for states to reduce the cost of training residential energy efficiency and electrification contractors and their employees.
