Direct Pay Training for State Policymakers and Advocates

Loading Events

Direct pay creates an unprecedented opportunity to improve health, decrease energy costs, create jobs, and build wealth in low-income communities and communities of color. States play a central role in enabling this, with power to prepare communities to take advantage of direct pay, make bridge financing available for projects, and create incentives for siting projects in low-income communities. State policymakers and advocates are invited to join us for a training to learn how you can increase uptake of direct pay in your state.

During the training, you will:

  • Master the basics of direct pay, such as why this is such a huge opportunity, what entities and projects are eligible, and how direct pay works in practice.
  • Learn how entities eligible for direct pay can leverage Lawyers for Good Government’s Tax Navigator to get set up for success in the filing process.
  • Gain understanding of the mechanisms and tools to weave together multiple sources of funding and finance to maximize clean energy project viability by exploring Atlas Public Policy’s Project Finance Hub.

This training is designed for state policymakers and advocates, such as:

  • Legislative staff
  • Agency staff from departments engaged in clean energy and clean vehicles (including, but not limited to, environment/natural resources, energy, transportation, social services, and housing)
  • Governor’s office staff
  • Nonprofits and advocacy groups

In particular, this training will be designed for you to be able to bring actionable information and resources to the partners and communities you support to help them access direct pay.
