Carbon Negative Shot is the U.S. government’s first major effort in CDR and is an all-hands-on-deck call for innovation in technologies and approaches that will remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere by capturing and durably storing it at gigaton scales for less than $100/net metric ton of CO2-equivalent (CO2e). CDR is a climate-critical activity required to reach our global climate goals if scaled up and deployed in conjunction with aggressive decarbonization.
