NOAA seeks to strengthen its ability to provide science-based management and conservation of our nation’s living marine resources in a changing climate. This includes investing in novel approaches to data collection, like citizen science, that can help supplement and inform fisheries stock assessments and improve our understanding of climate change effects on marine resources and the communities that depend on them. The principal objective of this funding announcement is to support citizen science projects that can help inform federal fishery stock assessments and climate-ready fisheries management. Funding will prioritize projects that: provide information for use in stock assessments and increase understanding of current and/or future impacts of climate change on fish stocks and/or fishing communities.
